So long the universe had a beginning and an end, we could suppose it had an absolute idea, a purifies thought, a clear media, but the universe is really completely self-contained, having no boundary or edge. Would it have a beginning or end? It would simple be! What place, then for an absolute model, we make to describe our observations, our plans, our concepts: It exists only in our minds. It is simply a matter of which is the more useful description. The laws of science do not distinguish between the past and the future. More precisely, the laws of science are unchanged under the combination of operation, or symmetries, known as C, P and T. C means changing particles for antiparticles. P means taking the mirror image, so left and right are interchanged. And T means reversing the direction of motion of all particles in effect, running the motion backward. When I started my paintings in the cosmic series, I used black and white oil paint only. I changed those elements under the combination of the earlier described operations. The most surprising discovery was that by doing something very abstract, I created a space, which formulated a very specific view of a reality, a constructed Nature which connected me to a memory, an imagination of space and time Real time has a beginning and an end that form a singularities and a boundary for space and time. But in imaginary time, there are no singularities or boundaries. So may be what we call 'imaginary time' is really more basic and what we call 'real' is just an idea that we invent to help us understand. "This might suggest that the so-called imaginary time is really the real time, and that what we call real time is just a figment of our imagination."
